Kelsie is my husband’s cousin, and I was beyond thrilled when she approached me to take her engagement pictures! If you’ve ever taken pictures of a family member, you know that it’s the absolute best. The comfort level of the couple is sky high, and I love that we don’t have to take those first moments to get comfortable with each other. Derek and Kelsie were no exception to this rule.

This adorable couple actually met on a blind date set up by Kelsie’s brother. It took her a couple of weeks to actually admit she liked Derek, because she didn’t want to give her brother any credit for setting her up with the man of her dreams. Sibling rivalries am I right?! Over time, Kelsie finally admitted to having a crush on Derek. Then magic happened, and I bet they are sure glad that she has one intuitive brother. I think he deserves the best brother award, and I’m sure he will never let them forget just who set them up in the first place.
We originally planned to have their session at Zollinger’s Tree Farm with the blossoms, but we all know Mother Nature really screwed up with the blossoms this year – cue eye roll. If you haven’t already guessed it, the blossoms were gone by the time Derek and Kelsie’s session day rolled around. We went with plan B – Green Canyon. I was absolutely obsessed with this location. The way the sun peeked through the trees combined with the pure love these two share made this girl one happy photographer. I love this couple, and I love their pictures.
Meet Derek + Kelsie.
